Ride Along
"Officer 381, we have a 1249 over on 14th and 'R' sts."The words crackled over the radio. Baker hit the siren, punched the gas and threw me into the back of my seat.A smile of fear and excitment smacked me in the face as we legally drove with reckless abandon through the blistering streets of Lincoln. Turn a corner, speed up, slow down, run a red.The call was for an alarm over at the bank in the union."I love it when people actually do what they should," Baker said sarcastically.Just another day in the exciting world of law enforcment. The daily march of citations, inicdents, arrests and warnings. In one four hour period can seem so mundane, but it is in these fine men and women that we are kept in line.A society without police is the worst concept imaginable.
